Cleaning Patches

Buy a box of baby wipes and tear to size for swabbing bore works great in a smoothbore, probably do as well in a rifle. :grin: graybeard

The only money one should spend on cleaning patches is for a good pair of scissors, the rest should be free.

My advice is free .....just like my cleaning patches :grin:

Hi Jerry. I'm ex-Marine and I use none other than Eastern Main Shooting Supplies square cleaning patches. You can buy them just about anywhere including Track of the Wolf and Dixie Gun works. I used them all the time in the military. These patches are all the U.S military uses. I am sure there are cheaper alternatives but they work every single time. Never had a problem cleaning in the desert, jungle, or the states.

Go to your local fabric store and get some 100% cotton flannel and cut the squares yourself. It is cheap and 1 yard will last you a good long time. I also use this material for swabbing the bore between shots. Just plain white flannel with no dyes or prints on it and a good pair of scissors.

I have tried every conceivable cleaning patch that has come to the market over the past 50+ years. None cleaned any better than my cut up jockey shorts/t-shirts. :grin:

If you go to a store that sells cloth look for the remnants bin. They have remnants that aren't big enough to sell for regular stuff so the mark it down. Personally though, I use T-shirts for rags and cut up cleaning patches. I ware them out faster than I can use them up recycled.
