You are not wrong. I was born here and have lived here my whole life. I was raised in the Amarillo (panhandle area) on a ranch/farm and have lived in the DFW area and now live near Austin. Public land here for hunting is limited, and crowded enough that I just don't consider it safe anymore. Access rules limit motorized transportation on these lands and at my age, long days or a week afield just aren't an option.Brokennock said:I'm jealous of those that get to hunt in January. And of the huge pieces of public land in Pa.
Funny how when I mentioned here once that Texas was not on my short list of places to move to, when/if I escape the People's Republic of Connecticut, because of the lack of public land, the Texans here went nuts telling me how wrong I am.
LOL, back in those days it was a 2 lane road sometimes with no shoulders - called Route 66. There was a train track that ran along beside it for many-many miles. Now it's a super highway and the tracks have been gone for a lot of years. And you are spot on with the smell nowdays. But the "yards" weren't there when I lived there, thankfully..azmntman said:I'm quite sure I passed yer place MANY times when travelling I-40 on the many visits grandpa!
