colerains barrels

hi folks ,question for the gun builders here. i have a 44"colerain smoothbore in 20 gauge .oct to round .im wanting to replace the barrel with a 28 gauge colerain barrel same profile .are the barrels the same except in gauge.i understand there may be a slight difference no two barrels being exact.thanks for any thoughts
