Hi (and sorry my english) I just finished a leather collar of (12) charges or apostles, but need to use the appropriate thread for each charge, a strong and correct for the period one. Someone could recommend me which sort of thread to use ?? Thanks !

Strong hemp cord would be historically correct and functional. Probably 1.5 to 3 mm depending on the style of your powder bottles.

As an added refinement, find some brass wire rings, maybe 12-18 mm in diameter. When you thread the bottle strings use the brass rings to connect one to the next so they don't tangle, like so:

My friend Steve made that one from parts. It's a reasonable copy of an early 18th century (that's right, 18th) German target rifle. The Germans retained the matchlock for target shooting long past its practical life in the field.
