There will never be another Colt and the name Colt is a household name. They will always be valuable because even in 100 years people will still be fascinated by the Wild West, the "gun that made all men equal " and the Colt Six Shooter. There will never not be a market for original Colts, long after we're all gone people will still know who Sam Colt was.A question please, and don't turn this into whats better. I'm talking about long term value for my heirs. A while ago my good buddy and I decided to take a couple of pistols out of our bulk buy. They are all originals and in mostly great shape. He already took a 1849 and a 1860. I took a 1849 and still have a pick coming. I don't know if I should take a 4 screw 1860 or a 1863 govt contact New Army Remington, I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm only thinking about the value when my two Son's get my estate. All numbers and condition match in both, and both could be shooters.
A Remington will just be another old "Civil War revolver". Ask a non-gun person who Eliphalet Remington was then ask them who Sam Colt was.
An investment is an investment, even if someone doesn't care about history or guns they will buy a Colt as something to put away to sell later.
