I picked up this Colt Dragoon this afternoon from a local gun store. Serial number is “1277C”, which I can’t seem to find in Colt’s serial number database. Backstrap appears to have an engraving of Samuel Colt’s signature. What do you think? Some sort of commemorative?

Do you plan on shooting it? Not to sound like a broken record...fix the arbor. Plus a heads up, the signature series need a lot of work on the internals.

Never mind. I believe I’ve determined this to be a ‘Signature Series’ Dragoon made under license.
First Model Dragoon. The Signature Series gets some criticism, but all in all, a very nice revolver. They have a real good fit and finish too.
I will admit it took some surgery to polish up the guts and properly space the arbors on those, but I think there are more than a few of us who would take apart a 2nd Gen Colt, or any Gen Colt, to make it run a tiny bit better.
Plus you can shoot it all you want, without fear of the “devaluation factor”.
Have fun you lucky guy.

Colt Signature Series, made by Uberti IIRC

Si
It’s my understanding that the castings were done by Uberti, but the guns we’re assembled by the Iver Johnson company (under Louis Imperato), here in the states.
Thanks for the info. I'm not terribly familiar with them, just what I remember from reading
