Where can I get a set of nipples that will fit an original Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver?

Thanks!

Also buy their nipple wrench when ordering because it's superior to anything else out there.

I am picky about tools and feel and that is spot on, it looks awkward but its perfect the way its setup.

Mixed feelings on their Nipples being superior but if I had worn nipples they would be a top choice, making sure on the threads.

Check with Track of the Wolf, they list a lot of nipples. The originals are not metric threads. Are you able to remove the nipples from the original cylinder?

It can be drilled out though its a finicky job. If you are not into that sort of thing sending it to one of the people that can.

D Yager or 45D if they don't do it probably can tell you who does.

I've broken 2 nipple wrenchs trying to get it out and today had no luck with an ez out. Ugh!

I've soaked it for a week in Kroil, then a week in evaporust, used a heat gun, no luck.

Slixshot nipples from Slixsprings. I have installed them on most of my cap 'n ball revolvers of various makes and calibers:

Expensive and worth every penny to avoid those nuisance cap jams.

Man I'd never put Slix Shots on an original 1860 Colt!
S and S Firearms has exact replica nipples for about $5 each.
I use them on my original revolver.

OK, fair enough. Equip an original with originals, if they're available. You convinced me. :thumb:

(I have a collection of original bolt action military rifles, and that would be my mantra for them, so it wasn't hard to see the same applies here, though I have no original vintage BP pistols).

You can make one like the one shown, I don't see the need for the long cut up the side tho. I make them from Chinesium 1/4 drive sockets. Pick the ones that closely match the diameter of the base of the nipple. I use a Dremel cut off wheel to make the slot.

For a better fit in my Dragoon and R&S. The brand new Dragoon had stuck nipples right out of the box done by the Uberti gorilla that torqued them out to the max. That deep socket wrench did the trick.
