Decided to jazz up my matchlock a bit and had some engraving done on the lock plate. It’s after one on a 16th century snaphaunce.

Laser engraving is "the thing" nowadays for modern firearms, but I don't think you're going to get a very enthusiastic reception from the "historically accurate" crowd.

I'd like to see the engraving it was designed from. It doesn't look 16th century in design to me, but I am no expert.
(I was able to have Chuck Edwards engrave my rifle sideplate for me. You are right, a touch of engraving adds a nice touch.)
Actually, it kind-of reminds me of ancient Minoan art.
