Has anyone used a compass cutter to cut patches? Seems like this might work well, but I wonder about the small hole that would be left in the center of the patch. The hole might help with ball centering, but would it effect the purpose of the patch? http://www.olfa.com/rotary/Products.asp?C=4&P=65 is the link to what a compass cutter looks like.

I am guessing the tiny hole from the needle shown would not be a problem. You should even be able to work the fibers back into place. The route is a dead-end for the blast, and all the concern is around the edges where it contacts the barrel. Lube it properly and it will not burn through at the center.

I still think it's easiest to cut the material into long strips and trim them at the muzzle or when setting the ball in a block.
