How does one go about using old coins as conchos? Do you drill a couple holes in them? Solder a post or loop on the back side?

What are some sources for really good conchos? Ya know, better than the ones commonly available from Tandy?

I had some really old pesos that I used. Some I soldered a loop on the back, and that worked fine. Some I drilled a single hole in the middle and use a rivet. Worked good too. Some I drilled two holes to accept a thong. Worked good too. Depends on the look you want.

As for sources other than Tandy? I'm looking too. All the coin conchos I've seen folks selling appear to come from the same source as Tandy.

Buffalo Brothers offers a wide variety of conchos in what is basically pewter.

Diablo Silver is a maker of sterling and nickel conchos but only sell wholesale

Thanks a bunch for the input! I think I found some I like at Buffalo Bros. I had looked at them several years ago and I guess I forgot they had them.
