Confederate Revolvers

I have a few Confederate revolvers in my collection. During my research I found this site. Not very much but it’s interesting and informative. I’m especially fond of the Dragoon style round barrel. I only have 5 of them in replicas. The Leech and Rigdon, Spiller and Burr, Griswold, Dance in 44 and the Schneider and Glassic.
Thought someone might be interested in this site. They also have the Yanks.

I have a penchant for Reb sidearms myself, and buy repo's of all of them I can find...The Spiller and Burr and Dance Brothers being my two favorites. Hunt down a copy of Confederate Revolvers by William A. Gary, probably the the best book written on the topic, used reader copies can usually be found in the $60-70 range and are well worth the price.

I've put together the Leech, Griswold and the Schneider. I made a 36 Dance. Took me about a week to remove the recoil shield and round out an octagon barrel. I got talked out of it by a buddy. With that I got a new Pietta in 44 and a Denix LeMat. As close as I'll probably get to one at the price of them things.

I made an Augusta Machine Works by just buying a Pietta plain .36 cylinder and putting it in a Pietta 1851 Navy

It's easy to "make" a lot of the more obscure ones because there was so much variation within the production runs, and in many cases each revolver was a little different.

Nice job on that 36 Dance Jappo. If you've already done one, then doing another one is just that much easier...Try to hold on to the next one though. 😉

I can't imagine how much work went into rounding that barrel. Nice job, though, and it looks great.

I like them also. More variations than just the standard 1851 Navy. Do you have any engraved Reb revolvers? The Schneider and Glassic has an octagon barrel.
