I've seen several rifle kits that could be used for target shooting that come with fast twist for conical bullets available in .32, .36, .40 and .45 caliber. While I've seen a large variety of conicals available for .45 caliber and a few for .40, I've never even heard of conical bullets for the .32 and .36 caliber rifles. The barrels on these guns are fast twist designed for conical shooting, but where can I get the bullets and/or moulds? I've checked with the usual places that I get my m.l. equipment but they don't have anything that I'm looking for. Any ideas?

We designed some in South Africa and had a custom mold made by Mike Neumann. Here is the .32, .36 and .72 for the Kodiak double.

They fit great in a .32 and .36. They shoot pretty accurate.

Don't recall seeing any fast twist barrels in .36 caliber. GM make them in .38 caliber with a 1:16" twist or thereabouts. I have a .32 bullet rifle that uses a 201gn conical bullet. My friend ordered the mold from Paul Jones http://www.pauljonesmoulds.com/ to his design, it is reverse tapered so the base is slightly smaller than the groove above it, etc., etc. His molds aren't cheap, & there's a wait, but they are excellent quality.

Another good source for molds is Mountain Molds http://mountainmolds.com/ in northern Idaho. His site has a CAD program were you can design your own bullet & he'll make the mold in your choice of iron, aluminum, or brass. Prices, & delivery time, are quite reasonable too.

I have some 125gr .36 Maxis that shoot real well out of my underhammer. It's a 1/66' from Deer Creek, but that conical over a bore button and 50gr of FFFg really turns a coyote inside out.

Deer Creek sells .32 and .36 conicals (made for rifles, not revolvers) made by Buffalo Bullet Co.
Are they pre lubed and what is their Phone#...Bud

Thompson center made 32 cal and 36 cal maxi balls I got about 200 from blue grouse but last time I asked he was not casting much, you can find the moulds on ebay but the price is high.

Could I expect properly sized .32 or .36 caliber pistol or rifle bullets meant for cartridge guns to work and be accurate in a muzzleloading rifle?

I think they'd need to be soft enough to upset when fired, so anything from 1:40 to pure lead would probably be ok. My .32 bullet rifle uses bullets sized to .314" which is just a hair under bore size. I cast mine from 'pure' lead, same as I use for my Minies.
