Conical holder...

I'll assume that some of you here have already made a conical holder...at least something "prettier" than the yellow plastic maxi-hunter package I'm carrying around now. Is it something similar to a PRB holder in design? Any ideas? Thanks

Some use a bullet block, similar to a ball block. +Usually, you need a top and bottom plate on the block to hold the bullets in it during transportation. Try cutting small rabbits in the outer wood, so that a sliding lid can be used. That way, you can pull open the top just enough to free One bullet at a time.

Consider the weight of such a device. I would not want a block so big that it would be a huge weight around my neck. 3 bullets should be enough, even in the small bore guns. Experience will tell you if you are ever really going to need more than 1 or 2 extra bullets on a hunt.

I would think any of the materials used to make powder measures like, antler, cane, your hardwoods. Could be hollowed out and some sort of a cap fashioned to hold one, two or three conicals if one wanted.

I have made a few of these, probably not PC, but much better than plastic :grin:

This one holds 9 .50 cal round balls.
