Do you shoot conicals in your C & B? Please reply or send me to a thread that has already covered this. Thank you.

I've shot the Lee 200 grain bullets out of my cap and ball revolvers with satisfactory results. I did not get good results with the Buffalo bullets, they would seat crooked and accuracy was horrible. The Lee bullets seat straight and are accurate. Groups were not as tight as round ball but pretty good.

Unless the bullet is made from pure soft lead it can cause some problems with the loading lever.

The lever is somewhat stressed by just ramming pure lead balls and the longer length of lead that needs to be sheared off of a bullet can make it tough to load unless your removing the cylinder and loading it with one of those separate loading presses.

When possible I use pistol bullets molded from soft lead and use a sizer die on the rearward bands to suit the chamber diameter. This allows precise alignment, good chamber sealing and numerous designs to choose from. The illustration below is of when you're ready to push the conical with the ram.

I have found that it just isn't worth it. Balls work just fine in all my guns.
