I have decided to cone my incoming FL and would like to know who makes good tools along with their contact information.

I know there are pros and cons of coning and have searched the forum. I have read the article and all the discussions. I don't want to start a debate.

thanks

I'll second Swampy's recommendation of Joe Wood's tools. My hunting pard and I went together and bought them in 50, 54 and 58 caliber, and they're all really well made. The results with them are all we could ask for, too. No controversy from me on their effectiveness.

I have a .62 fullstock I bought used, that was coned when I bought it. No negatives about mine. I read an artical in one of the blackpowder magazines a year or so ago that showed a guy coneing with just a round file. He filed off the lands, at the muzzle one at a time utill they were even with the bore.

i own one of Ed Hamburg's coning tools and have coned three .32's, two .40's and a .50,all with the same tool. cant see buying one for every caliber.

I have not used Joe Woods coning tool so I cannot comment on it but, I have one of Ed Hamburg's tools and am very satisfied with it. It is a well made tool but you do have to get a tap handle for it if you don't already have one in your tool box. It does take a bit of fiddling until you get the emery cloth to stay in place but once you manage that, it does an excellent job of coning. The neat thing about it is that when going from one caliber to another, all you have to do is to change the cleaning jag on the end of it. It uses your cleaning jags to adjust the fit from one caliber to another. One tool for all calibers.
