Been trying to get a gathering together since I joined here. I have invited and offered rifles powder and ball. I have shot alone since joining the forum.
Supposedly we have a rep for a national muzzle loading organization around, but nothing has ever come from that and I have yet to see a CT event sponsored by them. So much for a national organization that supports muzzleloaders.

I think your best bet is to just pick a date, time, and place and announce it here or by p.m. to those of us you know are from the area, and see who turns up, or how the replys come back,,, rather than trying to build a consensus.

The place could be the tough part given many club's guest rules. One of my clubs is so restrictive that it is killing the club by making it tough to get new members. When I joined, over 20 years ago, we had over 3,300 members, now, we're down around 2,00 or less. My other club isn't as restrictive, but the range is too small to accommodate much of a group or do much for interesting shooting.

That’s what I do, to date, a couple of people said they were interested, no one ever actually shows up.

My girlfriend lives in CT and I go up there from PA about once a month or so. I’ll let you know next time I head up and hopefully we can get together and shoot some.

Here is my annual attempt to try and get some of the locals together. Offer still stands at my club, I even have an extra rifle, powder and even some caps if your new and haven't tried muzzleloaders yet. Group powder buys, let's, I have done a few.
It might help if the rep for a national muzzloading organization got involved?

Lol,

You offer when temperatures are in the 20s and the wind is rattling my windows, lol, too funny.

I'm just joking with you. Depending on day and time I could be interested.
Thanks
I have to do it when I'm home, if it's nice out I'm at the range

We had our monthly trail walk today at the Niantic Sportsmen's Club. Pretty cold and windy, but 12 of us had a good time and hunkered down at the camp fire after the shoot to shoot the breeze, but staying socially distant.

Sounds good, I would like to have something like that up in the NW corner. We have plenty of clubs and places to shoot.

I'm up in Mass. It looks like Colebrook is about an hour or so away, but I might be interested in heading that way for a little get-together.

I'm pretty new to muzzleloading, and just recently acquired a couple cap locks I have been playing around with (and having a great time!).

The club I belong to used to - many years ago - have a pretty heavy involvement with muzzleloading, with several gatherings throughout the years, but that all went by the wayside some time ago. Now and again (especially around hunting season), a few people will show up at the range with those modern things they refer to as muzzleloaders that are mostly made of plastic and stainless steel, but I can't really remember the last time I saw someone there with a traditional ML.

Anyway, it might be nice to meet up with some like minded people to make some smoke with.

This has been my "weekend on," so mornings were shot anyway. Work nightshift Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night means no play on Sat. at all and usually not much on Sunday either.
Unfortunately I'm obligated to every other weekend, this interferes with my IDPA shooting in warmer weather and trying to get to a woodswalk or such this time of year. Inevitably anything I want to do falls on my weekend to work.

The Putnam F&G club is listed as a "Charter Club" by the NMLRA, yet I have never seen where they sponsor any shoots. We have been trying to keep our traditional muzzle loading group active by having shoots monthly from Oct-April. Some of our shoots are line shoots, but most are trail walks shooting at a variety of gongs, biodegradable targets, and moving targets. All are welcome, just no jacketed bullets, and it is requested that powder charges be kept to under 80 grains, 70 grains even better.

It's kind of sad about NMLRA, I have contacted the rep, asked him to come to our club, called the national office and even volunteered to be a rep. Based on the behavior of the local rep and national office, NMLRA has no interest in having a presence in CT, they would like us to send them membership dues however.

Seeing as we are on our own, any interest in a "CT Traditional Muzzleloader" group?
Simple rules, cap lock or Flint, see how many members of the group can get some range time at their club, move a monthly or so get together to different clubs around the state. The only way we get more interest is to get out and be seen, and with 80 grains of goex going off, you get seen.

I would be in

No time like the present.
Just got a new bag of wads, need to check patterns. Anyone want to go?
I’m also self employed and can shoot during the week.

Hello gents, new to the site. Live in west central ct. I’m interested in a muzzleloading group. Anything happen over the last 11 months with regards to range days or gathering?
