Converting Rifled To Smooth

You answered your own question.

Place some calls to some gunsmiths and ask them if they can turn a rifle into a smoothbore.

It requires real equipment. A setup to drill out the existing rifling then team the bore smooth. It’s not a job for a cordless drill and a cobbled together long bit.

Hi I worked for a company in Edmonton called air com industry and the had a gun drill for making sample cylinders.check em out.walt

You need to go to a competent barrel maker. They have the proper tooling.

With patience you may find a smoothbore offered in the "Firearms for Sale" section of this site. Likely be less money and hassle than converting your rifle.

I asked a friend you has a machine/fabrication shop that ?, he has the equipment, but said you would have to buy the reamer, not sure of the cost, and there is not enough money in it for a shop to do a one time deal, someone like Bobby has the knowledge and set up, he makes his money on volume and speed already knowing exactly what to do, with shops charging over $100 an hour for machine work I would think it would be cheaper and better to just send it to someone that does it for a living

Just about this time last spring Bobby Hoyt bored a .50 caliber Renegade barrel for me to .58 caliber smooth. He charged me $75 for the job. With shipping both ways, I spent $125, well worth the price!

It was back to me in three weeks time, actually surprised me as I knew he was busy at the time.
