Check your "privacy" settings. I discovered mine were set to block new incoming pm's. I could send and received replies to mine, so I thought my pm's were working OK. But people couldn't send me a new pm. Don't know how the settings got that way. I didn't even know they were there. Odd if that's the default. Maybe that's why you haven't got any.

It’s easy. Click on the persons screen name and at the bottom it says “start conversation “. Click on that. Put a “title” in first. Then type your message. It will go to the person privately.
The envelope up next to your avatar on your Home Screen (blue area) is your private messages.
