Corn Dodgers... the recipe

I thought there was a thread on corn dodgers, as Mr. Terry mentioned them in Dave's vintage cornbread thread.
Looking into them, I see recipes for the "corn dumpling" version where the dodgers are boiled in turnip green "pot likker." They don't look appetizing, but then neither do classic dumplings. Then there is Cowboy Kent's take: both the John Wayne/Rooster Cogburn style and one much closer to the version in Laura Ingalls Wilder's cookbook. Might have to mess with these.

Well, in my limited experience hush puppies include onion, and are deep-fried. Dear lord they are good with a plate of fried catfish!
Here are corn dodgers "both solid and tough" in the classic "Greer County Bachelor" sung by Burl Ives. This song sure drains all the romance out of homesteading! 😄
