yeah pre-cooked in cool weather if kept dry should last for at least 2 days likely more. it would not be as stable as jerky perhaps but still keep awhile sort of like pemmican.
I like grits too, they are a good trail breakfast with the pre-cooked bacon and freeze-dried scrambled eggs. I put butter and black pepper in 'em.

Birdman,
Well taking that into consideration,lets
just prepair mush as usual.Refrigerate,slice
and now dehydrate,Sounds like a great trail
food to me. Think I'll try it and see what I come up with.Let you know.
snake-eyes

Snake-eyes ok that might work if yer looking to carry something like a cracker, sort of like hardtack. My only question (unless yer looking to do a no fire type camp) is why would ya. Not trying to sound like a butt head here but the corn flour is already dry n to me more useable in the flour form. It ain't something that tastes all that great(i've done it) but you can even take a small portion n stick it in yer mouth n take a swig of water to wash it down(don't eat to much like this as it will swell in yer belly n after a day or two bind up yer insides reall good), it will fill yer belly some n give ya the energy yer looking for too. like I said I'm not trying to sound contrary here just trying to figure out why ya would want to carry it in that way. Sounds like it could be an interesting experiment though.
