Balcksburg: Most of the jackets I have seen in Hollywood movies used .45-70 brass in those loops. There was a lot of that stuff around, and the prop shops just made do. If you want to be absolutely authentic, then get some brass tubes, and make your own.

i know this is an OLD topic but just wanted to add that these werent made of brass or some other metal, just the caps were. they are actually wooden tubes with metal caps. very similar to the ones used by the old matchlock users
