Nothing is worse than a mad mama.

If I run into bear cubs in the mountains I get out of the area fast.

Coyotes hardly ever come to an electronic call here. They have learned and passed the knowledge on to the younger ones. Hunting in the lower 48 will be a shadow of itself in a few years if the coyotes aren't thinned out. Between low fur prices and the people who think they are harmless they have got a big start on ruining hunting. About the only thing left to hunt here are squirrels. And it wouldn't surprise me to find a coyote in a tree before long. Don't expect I will take a chance on barking him. Larry V

Want to rid your selves o yotes? Bring wolves in. wolves will get rid of um. And deers dogs sheeps cows gotes an any thin els that walks on 4 feets. I seen it hapin here. All aroun mi hous now. Traks in thu sno an yellin at nite lookin fer mor to take doun. But theys :v shor take kare o yotes.

I have witnessed this myself. They will also watch where they mark, when a dog or cat stops to sniff the sign post, its on.

Well I've sat this dance out as long as I can. I've personally taken note of the devastation to our other wildlife in our area caused by the coyotes. They have raised havoc with the farmers, have been a major cause of domestic pets disappearances, and even have attacked a few people (no human deaths yet but have sent a few to the hospital and prompted rabies shots). In so saying, I do, without any apologies, kill any and every coyote I that fall into the range of my rifles. The end.

Me personally, if I see a coyote, I'll shoot it. Whether or not I'm hunting deer etc. If left unchecked, they will just get bolder and bolder. And then you've got a real problem. :idunno:

Just got a electronic preditor call at Dicks Sporting goods for about $40. Reviews were good but haven't had a chance to try it out yet, snows still too deep to get out. I hear yoties every night about 7 or 8 o'clock in the fields all around my place. Very little deer, rabbits, etc. around here. Wonder why?? Can these critters be drawn in close enough for ML rifles?? If not I got a 30/30 with a killer sniper scope that'll work.

I guess it would depend on how wise the coyotes are in your area, and whether or not they are call shy. You could mix in some mouth callers with your e-call too. I see no reason why you couldn't use either your ML or your 30-30. Both will do the job. My buddy shot a yote this past deer season with a .308 and both entrance and exit wounds were the same size. That bullet didn't even have time to expand I guess. But it dropped like a stone, dead.

I shot one this year with my 30-06 at 15 yards. Needless to say he was dead right there.

Yeah Yotes will take out other predators. After there is nothing easier left to kill. Like after they have decimated the grouse turkeys and rabbits in the area. Game bird eggs and poults that can't fly are all easier prey and as such are preferred targets of the coyote. When there is no recruitment because of no young surviving the adults die off and then poof... nothing. No more game.

Even the snakes are rare here! Guess it makes sense the snakes are easy prey. Kind of miss the old slow black snakes. The others not so much. Larry Wv

Unless the DNR is lying the numbers really don't look that bleak. 2008, 09 and 10 are out there as well, a little google fu will bring up the numbers, winter kill and CWD seem to be doing most of the damage. Black bear kills are down as well not sure how the coyotes fit into that, I would say less hunters in the woods and hard winters. I am not trying to be argumentitive just trying to look at the facts. I really don't mind people shooting every coyote they see, snaring and trapping are also OK by me, I just hate it when they get blamed for every ill that befalls man including AIDS and Polio. I shoot a lot of coyotes and other predators and enjoy doing it but let's not get out of hand with their lethality.

A week or so ago I could hear coyotes howling in 5 different directions about midnight. :( Can't be good for the other wildlife. :shocked2: some of the coyotes are going to have to move or starve before long. Maybe the Dnr will put them on food stamps. Larry
