I have a T/C Hawken in .50 that was made in the early 70s. Just recently a small crack in the formed in the stock behind the screw opposite the lock assembly that does not go clear through (Yet). So my question is has anyone had experience with stocks cracking? How about failing, as in am I going to be lined up on the buck of a lifetime and end up with two halves of a gun in my hand after pulling the trigger?

Not if you repair the crack with epoxy, or glass bedding compound. Talk to T/C, as they have a lifetime warranty on their guns. They may either fix the stock, or replace it.

A friend of mine had the same problem. He sent it to T/C and they sent him a brand new stock with hardware. It cost him about $20 to ship it and he got it back in about two weeks. They do stand behind their products  .
