hey folks, I ”˜m working on a new neck knife project and have gotten stuck :shocked2: NO, not the bleeding kind of stuck.. ..just stalled at the sheath stage. the blade was crafted from a little nicholson file I annealed in the fire pit then cut in half. In case the first knife was a bomb I could go round two.
the knife came out suiting me just fine. I had an extra antler tip to haft it with and after making the blade, quenching it and drawing it out to just past straw stopped the temper. It’s shaving sharp. The sheath is that same old couch hide as my other stuff. the antler tip got the same heronsbill treatment as some of my powder measures and overall I’m pleased with it.
The stall occurred at the sheath after shrinking the rawhide liners to the knife I started stitching the outer leather sheath. the seam goes in front. My thoughts lead me to thinking it could be suspended handle down since it is almost snap-fitting into the rawhide. OR I could go the traditional route and hang it handle up. Both would work IMO. So I left enough material(all one piece) to go either way. Whaddaya think? Point up or down?
