She can cook,sew,skin,shoot.. hell I should keep her and she just saw a percussion rifle she liked and said get it.

Getting her hooked is the big thing. Once she is hooked then a new one now and then spices up the relationship.!! :idunno:

Cheers, DonK

My lovely wife doesn't shoot. And as I was building rifles and making a collection, she would say, "another gun". Then I sold one I had just built. Now she smiles when I say I want to build another one.

I think of flintlocks as dogs. Dogs are my favorite people, hands down. I was born in the year of the dog. You get the picture. They are faithful, easy to care for, don't ask for much, don't care how rich/poor you are and will do as you ask if you just show them a little love.....that's flintlocks I'm talking about now.

I have four of the darned things now, and never meant to have more than one!

All from The Rifle Shoppe, they are: a French 1763 cavalry carbine, M1800 Harper's Ferry (the predecessor to the M1803 that many contend was carried on the Lewis & Clark expedition), Baker rifle, and M1817 common rifle.

Description and history of the M1800 from the TRS website:

I think we all start off like that, "just one really nice flintlock is all I want". I know that's how I started down this path. But you always want another one, come up with reasons you need another and make excuses just to add that "last one". My last one was some time back.

To tsmgguy,

How do you like your M1817 Common Rifle from TRS? I was totally unaware of these weapons until I saw one at the Cody Museum in Wyoming. It was love at first sight. I'm considering the TRS kit as my next project. A colleague who has handled an original remarked that he felt it was muzzle-heavy. Do you agree? Do you think it balances well?
Thanks
