This flintlock pistol was made by EJ Sewell. It is marked on the lock and barrel. It sparks well and appears to have never been fired. I bought it thinking it was .50cal, but I was mistaken (a .490 ball won't fit.) The brass inlay near the rear sight looks to be stamped 1949, which may be when it was made. Selling because everything I have is .50cal, and I want to fund other projects. Asking $350 shipped. Personal check or USPS Money Order.

Wonder if that's a .44? And I think I used to own its twin in a percussion. Fella I got it from said it was made by a guy in VA that was locally known. Built some really nice stuff back in the day. Don't have a pic of the individual pistol, but here it is. This whole group went to a guy from MS yrs ago. Heck of a well built piece.

I found a picture of one such E.J. Sewell rifle in a 2013 RIA auction. Nine-and-a-half feet overall! What an absolute beast!
That was his "over the mountain" gun. The story is Sewell got tired of people boasting how far their guns could shoot, and his could shoot so far you had to load the bullet with some salt so the meat wouldn't spoil before you got to it.
