FOR SALE Custom flintlock rifle for sale PRICE DROP $800 plus shipping

Flintlock rifle, 44" barrel, 14-1/4 length of pull. I don't know who the maker is. My rifle weighs in at 9lbs according to the bathroom scales. Bore seems excellent. Barrel is, near as I can tell, not swamped. Inside of lock is marked DM. I bought this rifle because A. I don't own a flintlock rifle and B. a friend is down on his luck. With a Fourteen and a quarter inch length of pull this rifle is not for someone that is 5'6" tall. The wood is very pretty, this is a nice slim rifle. Forty Five caliber. I put 4 shots through it, and, with 50 grains of FFg, it seems to be right on at 50 yards. The other big issue for me is that it is right handed and I am a lefty. I want $1000 for it and shipping if shipping is needed.

IDK, Ican guess. my guess is the maker did not want to go deeper with the lock. The rifle is slim.

That just goes to show ya'. Over 50 years of ML'ing and ML building, I have never seen anyone space a lock like that before. That's what I love about ML's. When you think you've seen it all.... Semper Fi.

looks to me as if that main spring is so wide it would block the pan from snugging up to the barrel..

It’s a different way of doing it but spacing it out can help get better developed lock panels. I’ve seen a spacer along the pan of the lock before to get that extra spacing but not on the barrel. Pics look like the lock panels are pretty dramatic so maybe that’s what the builder was up to.

I did not spend enough time with the rifle to find out. If I was to keep this rifle I would probably open up the touchhole in the spacer.
