Description:
Rice .62 cal. (20ga) match grade smooth bore custom in-the-white barrel. 30” length. 1” straight octagon for 10”, then tapered round for 19.687”. Excellent copy of original museum Dutch/German barrel ca. 1635. At the muzzle a dim of .900 and taper round to the 1” octagon dim. The muzzle wall thickness is .140. All dovetails are cut .055 deep. So at the front sight dovetail, the wall thickness is .085 deep. Round section is polished and octagon section is machined finished. The machine finish may be rubbed with a coarse grade of scotchbrite to remove 50% of machine marks or lightly draw filed to finish.
The breech plug is hand fitted to ensure that there is a seal. The breech plug tang is 3-3/16”. On the bottom flat where the breech plug meets the barrel is a witness mark so if the breech plug is removed, all that will be required to endure the plug is timed and sealed again is to align the witness mark. The company logo and caliber is engraved on the bottom flat. There are 3 pre-cut dovetail underlugs and front and rear sight. The front sight dovetail is 3/8” wide .055 deep. The rear sight and 3 underlugs are 1/2” and .055 deep. Touch hole is not drilled. The Rice retail price for these barrels with breech plug installed is $300, each dovetail is $7 at $35 for a total retail cost of $335 plus shipping and insurance.
