I decided to make a rifle case or box for my TC renegade carbine. I couldn't find anything short enough for this rifle and I wanted it to fit the rifle, so I made this. It has elk hide where the rifle touches the case to protect it. It fits nicely without moving around when it's closed:

I'll bet it's heavy, though. My dad made one out of walnut for his Ruger #1 and had to put wheels on it to get around.

It's not too bad. I made the frame out of pine and used 3/8" plywood for the sides. The box weighs 8.5# so with the rifle it totals 15#. Not quite heavy enough to require wheels  .

...and it should be sturdy enough for airline travel if I need it to be. I'll just have to add a lock if I ever fly with it.

Nice work. For my target rifle I just used some left over plywood and made a rough carrying case.(After I bent the front sight removing the rifle from the back seat of the car. ) Yours is a true gun case. :hmm:

Thanks. It was fun to make and protects my short "trapper's carbine". I think that's what I'll call my custom shortened rifle.
