I took a Pedersoli Jager Hunter and decided to customize it. I don't have the tools or skill set to build a kit or start from scratch. There is a reason shoemakers make shoes and rifle makers make rifles.

Here's what I ended up with

I like it. It takes nerve to make that first cut on a high dollar Pedersoli. I've said this before but I sure do miss my Pedersoli Jaeger. I did inlay a small Masonic emblem into my patch box lid. Your efforts give it lots of character.
By the way, I turned a $800 TOTW Jaeger kit into a $300 rifle.

I like it  you made it your rifle, I'm sure back in the day that everyone that done a little something extra to personalize a rifle wasnt a rifle smith, you did a fine job at it looks like to me

IMHO you have more nerve than I. Could not do that to a gun as I have two left hands and to many thumbs.

Michelangelo did not start with the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel! You did great. I have been at several meets and seen several "discussions" about who's gun is who's! You will always know it is yours.

:hatsoff:

Love it! The lines betray the fact that a master gunsmith or engraver didn't do the work. It tells the viewer that the man who did the work was talented, had an eye for detail and most apparent, had a passion for his work. You've made it yours and a family heirloom to be passed down to your kin.

You've inspired me but still too chicken to take a knife mine just yet!

That's a nice job. :applause: :hatsoff:

I will be doing a "customizing" on Pedersoli Frontier I have. Already had the barrel rebored from .36 to .45. Will be completely redoing the stock adding a patchbox and inlay, taking off the excess wood they tend to leave on these, especially on the forestock. Also, converting percussion to flint. I hope mine turns out as well as yours did.

Thanks, Swath and Spike. Go for it.

Make sure your knives and chisels are really sharp, don't push your strokes too hard, and wear a surgical mask because Walnut is a pain to work and the dust is fine enough to trigger allergies.
