Have an old (Made in Spain) CVA SxS that I "modified" years ago. Anyone have any idea what it might be worth?

My buddy is picking up a very nice Navy Arms 12 gauge today with shot pouch, nitro cards, and few other items for $300, I‘ll post a picture tomorrow.

I should admit that my buddy is getting a smoking hot deal from his friend on this gun. Not your normal price in my opinion! I’d value just the shotgun a bit higher. He’s coming over today with it and we’ll go shoot it as the only thing he didn’t get with it is caps.

I have seen CVA shotguns in good orginal condition sell for $350 at local rendezvous in the Midwest. I am not sure if your "modifications" would lower the value. What did you modify? Outwardly it looks in great condition.
Removed the bluing, scroll work on the metal, cheesy engraving and the checkering on the wrist. Was thinking about browning it but when I had it down to bare metal I just liked the look so kept it there, oiled it really well. I was thinking around the $350 range myself.

Just curious, What engraving scene is on your lock plates? I have an identical one that has Grizzly Bears on the plates.

It looks in very good shape to me. I don't see how removing the scroll work would affect the value of a CVA shotgun. I would ask for $350-$400 at the local rendezvous.
Good luck.

I would have left it alone :dunno: I think it would be worth more before than after your work - just my 2 cents. If the bores are in good shape and the mechanics are in order then I think $200 to $300 is a good price for the buyer and $250 to $350 is a good sale price for you.

Personal taste, to me the scroll work and engraving was ugly, cheesy and cheap.

I'm sure I could get that but not here.

Dunno but everything i see on net sells for way more than i guessed it would. I feel online stores like Mdway and Cabelas, et al, are feeding the flames with their prices, Not much ( if anything) is coming in from europe so you have the supply thing going on. Heck, even small parts are outrageous, If it were mine i would put it on gunbroker at 399.95 and stand back. Might get a bid war if lucky. Brown the whole thing and list it for up to a couple c notes more if you want.

I have seen them going north of $600.00 on gun sites. GUN BROKER for one. so they aren't a piece of S$$T. and seem to hold there value. I have one from 30+ yrs ago and shoot SKEET with it on a regular basis & hunt every year with it and not a HICCUP! people used to PUKE on CVA'S for some reason, SPANISH maybe? remember they were making fire arms many years before we were AMERICA!!
