CVA Colonial (kit) Pistol operation

Happy New Year!

I've got a circa 1970's CVA Colonial Pistol Kit (percussion) that was a gift to my father. I've got all the parts, and the "You can build it" manual, but the box and the "You can shoot it" manual are gone. Is there any chance anyone might have a copy of the shooting manual?

Do a google search. Deer Creek Products has some of the information online in pdf format.

Generally speaking if it is a .45 you will want to use 20-40 grains of fffg black powder or appropriate substitute and .440” round ball with a patch. If it is a .50 then the ball is .490 and all else can remain the same. I’m not sure the Colonial came in anything but 45.

If you are new to traditional black powder muzzle loaders you will want to read a bunch discussions here, especially in the pistol section.

Agree with Jake. I use 20-25 gr FFFG and a .440 cal ball with patch in mine.
