I'm trying to find out what the age of my rifle is. I got it back around 87-88 from Gander Mountain but I'm entering info in a database of my firearms and would like to know a better estimate of age.

If the first two numbers of the serial # are separated from the rest by a space, that MAY indicate the year it was made. My .50 Express is that way but I would not bet any money on anything regarding date of manufacture on CVA. The .54 in that gun is rare to my knowledge. Only ever saw one so far.
