CVA Kentucky Mainspring

Hey Everyone,

I have another (hopefully) quick question for all the helpful folks here. I need to replace the mainspring on my CVA Kentucky so I ordered a new one from Deer Creek. The new one that came in is quite a bit thicker than the old one.

Should I file/sand down the new mainspring to match the old one? Or were these actually supposed to be thicker?

I would try it first to see if it fits alright in the lock mortise. You may or may not have to file it some.

Thanks! So filing isn't necessarily something to avoid (I'm just thinking in terms of messing up the hammer pull/release)

All the ones I have seen were thick to begin with.
