Help!!! I can't seem to find out which way the "ground out" part of the notch faces on the rear v-notch sight. Does it face forward or rearward?...I've seen them both ways. Some say the grind faces out to reduce sun glare?...Others say it faces toward you to enhance the target view? Who's right? Thanx,...Pat

In most instances, ground out part goes Forward, Flat part facing the Rear, which is what you are looking at.

Dished out portion ALWAYS faces the muzzle. Also helps to have the top of the sight sloping slightly downward towards the muzzle.

That is correct. The dished out part is so the notch part is very thin & thus you have no side wall there to distract from the actual sight picture.
And sloping the top flat forward I also do, then blacken it. :thumbsup:

Well it looks like I'll be turning my rear sight around then, I was under the impression that the dished out part faced the shooter. It explains the reason for my notch blurring out yesterday evening when I was dialing in my .40 cal. SMR.
