I have recently aquired an old CVA Kentucky rifle kit that is missing a couple of brass parts. Where would be the best place to purchase replacement parts? I have heard that "Deer Creek Products" sells the parts but they are slow and unreliable. Should I try them or go with some one else?

Also if anyone has any advice for me on this type of kit let me know. I am looking forward to working on this this winter with my son.

Thanks,
Mark C. Foster

i got a kentucky (CVA) kit at a yard sale some years back, and when i put mine together, i chose to eliminate the brass spacer between the forestock and the main stock. what i ended up with is a half stock kentucky with a solid stock! i glued(epoxy) a wooden spacer in place where the brass spacer was to go, then created someriser blocks for the thimbles. turned out pretty good(imo)

I've not had a problem with Deer Creek. Just know that they're not a slick Amazon.com-type operation with a website and a hundred customer service reps--seems they're a family business run out of a few buildings in Waldron, Indiana, by phone and mail. I do think I've heard that they bought up at least a lot of CVA's spare parts stock, and CVA will refer callers directly to Deer Creek when asked for parts.

I will try and put and order in this afternoon.

I will keep you all up to date on the build.

let me know if yours has a 100 lb trigger pull. mine takes two men and a boy to pull the trigger!

This was the first kit I ever built. My dad got it for me when I was 13. Barked many squirrel and blasted many quail with it, (even though I was forbidden to use live ammo).

Fun memories ahead for you and your son!

Have two CVA"S and two Jukar"S. Have work on the locks and I beleive it is how the trigger is in place relateing to how hard the pull is.The one Jukar has the best, lightest pull.Been nice if they came with set triggers, as they shoot straight. Shoot 11 grhogs straight with the one with not the best trigger, have shot 5 straight with the other one, and one with the one CVA. Have 27 sofar, used 36&32 on other ones. Dilly

You can change out the tumbler to an adjustable $12 tumbler. I like adjustable's so i can fine tune it to my liking. Currently have one of my rifles at a little over a pound. :youcrazy: i know, but its perfect for warm weather hunting.

where did you find an adjustable tumbler for the cva lock? i would like one without a doubt.

He is probualy talking about the little screw on tumbler that you use so sear don't engage to far. If it is you might get them from Deer Creek. Most CVA & Jukar locks I have has the screw. But I don't like to set them to fine as may be un safe. Dilly
