CVA Mountain Rifle kit, ramrod retaining spring

I have a CVA Mountain Rifle kit I am making a stab at. Most everything is coming together okay, with some rookie mistakes which I am correcting. BUT, I cant figure out how to attach the ramrod retaining spring to the rifle! I thought there was surely someone in this group who would be able to offer some advice? Thanks

I believe the screw that goes from the side plate to the lock plate goes thru it and keeps it in place

R Ellis is correct. Be aware that if you install it upside down the ramrod will be locked and you will have to remove the lock and then the barrel to reposition it the correct way. No brainer, though. Enjoy your rifle, these are good shooters.

The front lock bolt holds it in place.
You have to install the lock and bolt holding the spring before the barrel is in the stock.
The curve should face down and towards the rear of the gun.
It's a common mistake for those new to the Spanish guns.

If you use that thing, don't ever take the lock screw out of the stock. Otherwise, you'll have to remove the barrel to get the spring back in place.

I've built 2 Traditions kits that have that spring, but I leave it out.
