Older CVA Mountain Rifle with the 4 screw patchbox in .50 caliber. Shoots very well. I just picked up a new "custom rifle" so need to sell off a few to offset the cost. Asking $425 which includes shipping to the lower 48. PM me for further questions or additional pictures.

Is this kit or factory finish? Also, is the barrel blued or browned ? Thanks....

I'm guessing it was probably a kit, but the barrel is nicely browned. His dad passed away 15 years ago and it hadn't been fired since until I took it out a month or so ago.

I see above where you are answering additional questions via PM......so PM sent

If it's a kit gun, the builder did a good job. Interesting, to me, that the nosecap was finished dark. Brown or blue, USA or Spain, it looks like a nice rifle to me, fairly priced. That's about what I paid for my later model CVA Mountain Rifle several years ago. If I didn't already have one, I would be interested.

Best regards,

Notchy Bob

I was going to polish the nose cap back bright, but decided to leave it the was it was.
Mine is USA, but the browning finish was nearly gone when I got it and frankly the pewter finished parts looked cheap. My smith has given all the steel components a Colt Blue and adjustable Redfield aperature sights and front globe... it looks and shoots great. Extremely accurate. If your barrel is Made in USA and has strong deep clean rifling, it's worth every bit of your asking price.

Some more pictures. Feel free to make a reasonable offer. The worst I could say is no.

Made in USA barrel?
I picked up a couple of these kits in a box from a dealer going out of business. Had to buy the set triggers and several other parts from Deer Creek, but I got one completed. The barrels are excelent and have no markings of any kind, not even the little spade some owners mention. If it was Spanish it would have a proof mark at least.

Not really. There was a period of time when Spain made the barrels and were sent to the US for assembly. They didn't have the proof marks. Later they were forced to put proof marks on the barrels.

If I did not already have one, I would have more than the asking price for this gun. One of the better production reproduction, as opposed to the higher grade custom made guns.

I like it that someone sanded off the cheek piece too. I have to shoot lefty and it always looks goofy to have the cheek piece on the wrong side.

Don't think i'm not thinking about it. I just bought a Pedersoli Hawken and I love the gun but i'm kind of old for the heavy barrel. Your gun would be easier to shoulder. It's 2lbs lighter. It's so hard to give up a new gun I just bought. I can't afford to keep both of them.

Pm me your lowest you'll go shipped.

Nice rifle, I have four of them, but never saw one without a cleanout screw on the bolster, also the hammer looks to be changed, nothing terrible but not what I have run into, thinking about it for sure!
