I was wondering if anyone here has built one from parts bought from different places like deer creek? Only thing left to get is the barrel and Breech plug. It is a percussion. 54 cal. The lock is an New L&R. Just need a little guidance.

Could be hard to find a production barrel in good shape. I think Deer Creek may be out. If these barrels are pitted, it's pretty tough to de-breech them and bore them out to a larger size. The drum threads are intrusive to the breech plug. I did hear that Bobby Hoyt recently debreeched a CVA rifle and opened up the bore. The barrels turn up on ebay but condition is sometimes iffy.

I've been working on one for a year how, bring back a sow's ear to a silk purse,re-bore by R.H to 54,new sights,re finished the stock, re browned, picked up a L&R lock here. Just can't get it to work right! But wrong time of year for me. So after season over will do more. Found parts at Deer Creek, E-bay, S & S firearms.

I picked up a 50 cal barrel off eBay. Lots of work. Appears to have a stuck ball. The Breech plug is twisted. So lots of work! But it is a 32 inch with all of the hardware with it.

Better watch that there's not a load in it was well. All the mountain rifle barrels are 32".
