was at the gun shop they have a cva mountain rifle in .50 made in u.s.a. now the odd part it was all stainless steel. I have never seen one before. any body else?

if it was indeed a CVA Mountain Rifle it was either 'in-the-white' or has been plated.

Many people ,myself included, consider the CVA mountain rifle with the Made in USA barrels the best traditional rifle CVA had made. :idunno: :idunno:

it is not in the white I would say nickel plated. if it would have been a ,45 it would have come home with me. for my shooting I have enough .50's.

My 45 is still sitting in the corner having never been loaded. The 50 just keeps barking over the last 45 years or so. Guess I'll have to see if that 45 can keep up with my 50 now that my son as taken the 50 away from me. Fox

I have had a number of MR's over the years and have 2 at this time that i recently picked up. One is a Made In Spain .50 cal. with blued furniture, round ramrod thimbles, No patch box,and says Spain on the barrel, and the other is an Old what could be transitional model that has browned furniture, Hex ramrod thimbles, 4 screw German silver patch box, and has no place of manufacture on the barrel. But CVA NEVER Produced a stainless steel or nickle plated Mountain Rifle for sale. I think i am going to keep the newer Made in Spain one and part with the other one.

Who made the barrel on the Made in the USA versions? Douglas, Green Mountain? Just curious. Have always wanted one of them.

Rumors say it was Douglas but i don't know that anybody knows for certain. All i know is that all of them seem to be very accurate shooters.

Sheesh! Everybody knows the early CVA Mountain Rifle Barrels were made by Aliens using particle wave generator boring machines.

:haha: The consensus at present is that the barrels were made by Deer Creek using a Douglas boring machine. Some few may, and I stress MAY, have been from Sharon but that's not confirmed as I've ever found.
