Hey Guy's, I need some help. I recently bought a double barrel cva muzzle loading shotgun and discovered it needed some work. The front trigger will not go forward on its own (i have to push it forward) and the right lock is also not working properly. I took it to a local gunsmith and he said he thought it was not put together right at the factory and he could not repair it. Anyway, if I send it back to CVA will they repair it? I don't think they make the traditional double barrels anymore. Have any of you had this problem? I just want to get it fixed so I can dove hunt with it this fall.

Is he a real gunsmith?, They should be able to do any type of repair. I would look for a gunsmith that specializes in muzzle loaders.

Now that CVA is only selling those other things, I would recommend calling them and telling them what your problem is before you send them anything.

They may have the parts to fix it, but don't get your hopes up.

If they won't fix it and you have access to a digital camera, taking pictures of what you find when you take it apart and posting them here will allow us to make recommendations to you.

Of course, it may require a part or two that may or may not be available but a few of our members will work on locks.

Let us know what you find.

zonie :)

CVA will give you Deer Creeks no, as they don't do any sidelocks now only the new guns. Deer Creek had all my parts I needed. They were nice to deal with. Dilly

Hey, I really appreciate the help from you guys. I will contact Deer Creek and see if they can help me. Its good to have y'all to bounce these questions off of. Thanks again. Stan

Sad but most "gunsmiths" today are parts replacers. I do all of the soldering jobs for the local gunsmith here.
