Finished up daddy'o's hawk today. Had fun making it, but wish i had more time to fine tune. stupid weather has kept me off of the forge alot lately! 30 mph winds, a forge, and a hay barn 75 yards away do not go together!

anyways, the metal is a rr spike i picked up about a year ago. the leather is buckskin from a deer i killed last year, trimmings from making my leggings! (buckskin is like gold if you make it, and you WILL use every hard earned piece).

the antler jewels hanging off were from a bow killed buck of my youth.

the wedge is a piece of scrap from some staves i cut from hickory this year to make bows with this winter.

the handle is a branch i picked out of my woodstove pile, because it had just enough character, and was about the right diameter.

i guess you could call this a "scrap" hawk.

enjoy

Because quite simply.....the roughness holds its beauty.

He owns many shiny off the line items. This one will sit proudly in his log cabin as rough as he is. Of that i am sure. :)
