To short I can not see because track and dixie both carry a patch knife this small.

To modern I can see because of the mosaic pins and micarta scales. Even on the micarta scales im not sure when micarta came into use, will have to do some research.

All the same darn nice looking, one of these days you guys are going to inspire me to try that.

Very nice knife. However, Wick is right about the modern styling of this knife.

That blade design and the pattern welded blade scream 1980, not to mention the micarta grip.

Micarta is a modern material, with origins in the late 1940's, as engineers attempted to make inexpensive and durable electical components for use in aircraft.

Newly discovered phenolic resins ware combined with various materials for the matrix to produce those inexpensive and durable components.

The concept of using micarta for handle material was introduced in the 1960's or 70's.

Again, very nice knife, but that blade style, as a skinning knife, originated 1970's or '80's.

from what I found micarta was invented in 1910 by Dr. Leo Baekeland.

pattern welding dates back to AD 100-200 from the roman empire. wootz dates back even further 300 BC in india.

That's a good looking blade. I think I'd be tempted to go a bit more rustic on the scales, but that's just me. I've never seen a patch knife shaped like that. If you use it as one, let me know how well it works. :)

Ed,I think it is awesome regardless of the style or what it is made of!...Good job!..Shure wish I had one like it!

Very nice knife. I am too lazy and got a finished one from Track. I like the small size and mine came with a sheath to hang around the neck. I am sure you did a lot of work on it and should be proud.
