Use a fiddle peg. Size it to fit the horn.

me I like to use the spring loaded priming valves . I find that the 3grn ones don't work as well as the 10grn ones you just don't hold the valve down as long

Try using your powder horn for priming for a while and see if you grow to like it. Less stuff to tote and fumble around with.

Looks to me like your stopper is too large, gets hung on things.
