I am looking at a pedersoli pennsylvania flintlock to find date mark. On the barrel I see the stamps that are required for Italian arms. Then I see '20' in a square. Most of my arms have the date code that we are familiar with through that chart that's made it's way through most forums. I don't see a '20'. Have the Italian manufacturers abandoned the code(s) or is it just pedersoli? I interpret it as made in 2020. My harper ferry flintlock .54 cal pistol has '21' stamped on barrel.

Some of my more modern reproduction rifles and revolvers, from Pietta and Pedersoli, have human-legible dates in addition to date codes. I've not seen a number in a square though, just actual dates.

Here's a pictures of what it looks like (same on the pedersoli pennsylvania long arm.

The date code on Italian guns should be two letters or numbers inside a square box.
Some manufacturers went from date codes to numbers in 2020.
Some pistols may even have the four digit year.
Hope this helps.
