My 16 year old got her a nice 8pt last week with the Renegade 80gns of FFG and pillow ticked round ball. Sure was a fun hunt!! We take her lab on every easy track to keep him sharp!! He's a good boy, he hasn't missed yet!

Britsmoothy, I have been watching your posts with that awesome little dog of yours! I was hoping maybe you'd see this and reply! My lab has grown up with mountain curs so he thinks he is a squirrel dog too, he has actually barked treed on his own a time or two. He will even take the squirrel from my hardheaded curs and bring it to me like the fine waterdog that he is;) He is getting better at finding a shot deer but he does lots better after it gets dark out. Like I said, he thinks he is a squirrel dog in the daytime:):). Keep posting pics of that fine little dog of yours, I enjoy them!

She should be very proud. Not many girls her age has that accomplishment under the belt. And she has the perfect rifle for a growing youth also. I started out in 1976 with a TC Renegade in .54 but my hunting loads were either 110 or 120 grains of 2fg. One shot wasn't too bad but after that the rifle was really stomping me. Nowadays my main hunting charge is 80 grains of 3fg and last year I took an 8 point and doe with only 70 grains of 3fg. The round ball passed completely through both deer.

Thanks men! Yes, I am very proud. I can remember her first deer like it was yesterday and it was 8 years ago. She has killed many since then with her bow and other methods but this is her first with the muzzleloader. She loved it! She is like her old man though, she has a soft spot for chasing squirrels in the hardwoods! She wants to take my little .32 this weekend after them and it is opening day of her last ever youth deer season. Fine by me, we will pack a lunch and have a ball like always!! Looks like Im gonna have to add a couple of real guns to her arsenal!!

Well, these Ozark birds here have taken a nosedive the past few years and they are hard to come by. We got her one last year but it was a tough long hunt. I have been taking her to neighboring states so she can at least enjoy the early morning circus of hot Gobblers. She has gotten at least one bird and most years two since she was 10 and absolutely loves turkey hunting. She has been working with the box and slate that I made her, maybe she will be able to work her own bird next spring, or call one in for her old man!! That may be a way to get your daughter on some birds, I sure hope that you and her get an opportunity soon as it is as good a feeling as you can get as a Daddy!

Congrats on a mighty fine buck.Nice to see young ladys in the outdoors.NY GRIZ
