It is beginning to sound like the front trigger blade is not pushing up on the sear arm, doesn't it? :hmm:

If the arm was too short I can see how the front trigger blade could glide right past the end of the sear arm if the arm was too short.

Most of the double set, double lever triggers I've seen locate the rear triggers blade to the left of the front triggers blade making it more likely that it could hit a shortened sear arm on a right hand gun.

This has been my experience as well

It is possible for the arm to be long enough for the rear blade to make contact but to short for the front blade.

I am fairly sure it has to be set to the rear before the lock may be fired. Otherwise you will have to disengage the spring that the rear uses and use the front as a plain hunting trigger. I will be using the same trigger type on a future build and I will also be copying the materials to make my own version. Needless to say this post has been helpful.

You are fairly wrong & apparently do not know or understand this trigger asm.

If it is a Davis Double Set trigger, DST4 or 6 ( DST meaning Double Set Trigger), in this application the trigger asm. is not installed correctly. I have used virtually dozens of theses trigger asms., as it is my favorite trigger asm. On ALL of them you can set the rear trigger & fire with the front trigger OR you can just use the front trigger to fire the lock, IF the installation is correct.

You do Not have to set the rear to use the front trigger to fire the rifle. If you do, it is a improper installation of this trigger asm.
