I don't know how I missed this post...guess I was out chasing whitetails with stick and string at the time! Glad it came back up to the top so I saw it as it's as good a story as it gets!

I'm glad you were able to get the gun and continue your friend's hunting tradition with it. I'm sure he's got a big smile on his face and is proud. :hatsoff:
 
A dying friend called me to his house as his health was waning. He walked to a fine rifle hanging on the wall, took it off the wall and placed it in my lap saying "this is yours now, you are the only one I know who will use and enjoy it".

I make a point to hunt with the rifle some every year, many a deer have gone to the freezer when it went off.



When I kill a deer with it, I hold this beautiful rifle above my head, look up at the heavens and say "thank you Mr Biff".

I have a fine collection of rifles, both flint and modern, my son could care less about them. I have their final destination designated in my will to friends and nephews who will "use and enjoy them".
