It is tough here in the Bay State as far as an early season. We can use muzzleloaders during our shotgun season, which starts the first monday after Thanksgiving. That lasts for two weeks. Then we have our muzzleloader season. For 2005, it will be from December 12th to the 31st. I know it is late, but I have from the 23rd to the 3rd of January off.

Connecticut muzzleloader is generally December 7th to the 21st.

I believe Rhode Island will be November 6th, which is a Sunday this year. I may be hunting the Ocean State for the first time.

Where you going to hunt bears here in Oregon? I just moved over to the west side north of Roseburg in Sutherlin last July and haven't found many places to hunt yet. Where you located?

I live in Portland but am going bear hunting out in the Wallowa's out by Joseph. Haven't spent alot of time in southern Oregon, but I understand they've got some pretty good bear and turkey hunting down that way. The turkey is pretty much on the private land, but there should be some decent bear hunting on the National Forests down there.
There's also a big muzzleloader shoot down that way in July I've wanted to attend but have never been able to make it enough of a priority to dedicate the vacation time to.

There are a lot of wold turkeys around here. I got one a week ago. Going to go out after another one soon. There is a pretty good Rondy in Aug. over at Coquile. Good luck on the bear hunt.

Here in Alabama you can muzzleloader hunt during the regular gun season nov.20-jan.15 but there is a special muzzleloader season nov.15-19

Here in NS I can hunt Deer with Muzzleloader around the 15th of October and Then again Around The last weekend of Oct. till the first week of Dec.Providing I don't tag out first. Here in Nova Scotia we are allowed 1 antlered Deer unless drawn from a lottery for a Doe tag a year.

Gun season in Texas is from the first weekend of November through January 2nd. Although there is no special season for muzzleloaders here, there are places that are for muzzleloader only. Sure wished the Texas Parks and Wildlife would wake up and smell the powder so that we could have a ML season here. :boohoo:

In Va it is first Monday in the month, for two weeks then rifle season for two weeks in the whole state. In the county I live in rifle season is 7 weeks, so you hunt ML all of November and all of December, we have 3 buck tags and unlimited doe. You must be selective of your bucks or you limit out in archery and then see monsters in ML or rifle season. I made that mistake once. Bow season starts first Saturday in October, so all of Oct till first Sat in Jan, I am hunting. Every Sat and every day off, except Christmas and Thanksgiving, and the reason I don't hunt those day is if I get something, then I have to deal with it, and it is not worth the trouble taking a deer in to be processed and disrupting someone else's Thanksgiving or Christmas. Makes the wife happy, 'cause I fix bananna pancakes, eggs and venison sausage, at 9:00 or 10:00.
We all look forward to that "Dad makes breakfast" tradition. Chap Gleason
