i don't really care for the sight that came on my lyman deerstalker.they are like a truglow sight.they are kind of big so was wondering what and where i can get something alittle smaller?

This is the best thing you can do for a Deerstalker: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/3...ifle-and-thompson-center-hawken-aluminum-blue

I know it's pricey but it's worth every penny. There are at least 4 for less on e-bay right now so you could likely get one cheaper there or elsewhere.

A Deerstalker Carbine in .50 was my primary hunting gun when for years and sight really shines on the carbines as it lengthens the sight radius dramatically.

You will not be sorry if you purchase one and you will likely get your money back if you ever decide to sell the rifle.

Good luck in your decision and enjoy, J.D.

I agree with jdkerstetter. When I used the original "glow" sights the front dot was doubled. I switched to the receiver sight and a covered globe front sight and the eye problem went away. I can see both the sights and the target better than any other rifle I own and as a result it shoots the best.

This sight will allow you to see your sights more precisely and so you will shoot better. Longer sight radus also helps.

You guys must have newer Deerstalkers than me. Mine didn't come with fiber-optic sights.

Originally mine sported these: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/6...ont-folding-leaf-rear-360-dovetail-steel-blue

Personally, I hate this folding style rear sight as I find they are prone to breakage at the hinge. I've broken two on different guns. Maybe it's just my luck.

I saw no reason to change out this front sight as the white aiming dot works well with the receiver sight, low light or bright.

Enjoy, J.D.

I have to say I like the receiver sight too. I have a Lyman 57 on my Marlin 336.
At the time I bought my Deerstaker Pennsylvania did not allow a peep sight to be used during the flint lock season so I went with the V-Peep. The Lyman sight is very good if you like a peep sight.

It appears TC doesn't sell it any more, but their Hunter Peep is a drop-in on the Deerstalker. My wife would cut off my hands if I tried to take it off hers.
